Many people have a hard time expressing gratitude for the good things in their lives, much less the painful and difficult things. Yet the Bible says, "In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you" (1 Thessalonians 5:18). How is that possible? It is possible when one understands that everything in our lives is filtered through the purposeful hand of a loving and personal God--and has a personal relationship with that God through His Son, Jesus Christ. The longer one walks with the God of grace, the more readily one is able to give thanks in every circumstance.
How would you define “normal” as it pertains to gratitude? Would you say the normal person is thankful? As Christians, it should be normal to be grateful. However, it seems to be quite the opposite as we grumble and complain our ways through life. In fact, gratitude is almost viewed as abnormal.
